I’ll be honest, I really don’t look after my feet as often as I should and I really should because I am very prone to hard skin which sometimes gets so bad that it becomes painful, which is usually when I’ll give my feet a bit of love. Don’t worry, I’ll spare you the sight of my feet or the aftermath of my foot love but I have given these two items a good test to let you know what they are like.
Cuplex Hard Skin File
The hard skin file is designed for the removal of rough, dry, hard skin and features a dual action head and contoured handle.
First up, lets talk about the handle! Holding onto things, especially for extended periods, can be quite painful for me and I find it very difficult to hold on to things of a certain shape (think forks and hairbrush) and with this being a solid plastic handle I really thought I would struggle but it was actually surprisingly comfortable to hold and the grooves helped with my grip. After spending quite a while on both my feet, my hands were tired and achey but not super painful.
The handle is about 5 inches long up to the bottom of the pad and although I personally could do with a handle a little bit longer, it did mean that I didn’t have to bend all the way down to use it.
The dual action head features a side with a coarse grit to rub away the hard skin and on the other side, a fine grit to smooth away any dry skin. I used the coarse side to begin with on my heel and the ball of my foot, it initially worked really well but the more I did the less effective it got. Now this could be down to the fact that my feet were in quite a state and a good clean and dry and it was ready to go again but I am not sure how long this will last overall.
The finer side was just as effective, I used this around more sensitive side areas of my heel and on the side of my big toe. With this pad however, I didn’t have to stop and clean halfway through to continue using it, this is likely because with the finer grit, there is nowhere for the skin to sit.
Cuplex Cracked Heel Repair Cream
The cracked heel repair cream contains Urea, a natural moisturising factor, to intensively moisturise dry, rough skin and Glycerin to lock the moisture in. With added Cacao Butter, Aloe Vera, Pro Vitamin B5 and Jojoba to condition, nourish and protect the skin on your feet. Is suitable for Diabetics and people with sensitive skin.
I was really impressed with this cream. I used it after using the file (this is what it recommends on the packaging) and I really did see and feel the effects pretty much immediately. The cream is light and has a very, very subtle, clean fragrance.
It is 80ml but you only need the tiniest amount on each use so even if you apply twice daily as recommended, it will last a good amount of time. I used a blob about the size of a petit pois and massaged it into the bottom of my foot. It applied lovely and sunk nicely into my skin, it dried fairly quickly and didn’t leave behind any greasy residue.
My feet look and feel so much healthier after only a few days use, so I am definitely going to try and continue using these items as recommended, I tend to stick to the much safer barefoot over heels these days so it’ll be good to know I am looking after my poor feets.
Both these items can be bought from Crawford Healthcare for £4.99 each (file here, cream here) either to give your feet a pamper or get them ready for party shoes.
Now to choose a polish for my tootsies, holo obviously but which one?
