Loot Crate: An Epic Box of Nerdiness

Or should that be a nerdy box of epicness?
If you follow me on Twitter, you may have seen that a few months ago I was looking for an alternative to GlossyBox as I was thinking of cancelling. That is when I heard of Loot Crate. I then mentioned them in my Christmas Lust List and since then, I have eagerly been awaiting the day that I could sign up to a Loot crate subscription. That day arrived a few weeks ago, and I was luckily just in time for February’s box.
So what is a Loot Crate? Loot Crate is a monthly subscription service, currently available in US, which also sends to Canada, UK and Australia and each month, subscribers will receive a box packed with epic Geek and Gamer gear.
The subscription cost is $13.37 + Shipping and Handling per month, so the overall price will depend on which country you are in. For those of us international (Canada,UK and Aus) the overall monthly cost is $29.95, this worked out for me @ £19.02 because of a £1 fee for international payment. Considering it was shipped from the US, it arrived very quickly, I received the dispatch email late on 19th Feb and the box arrived with me on the afternoon of 24th Feb. I don’t even receive some items bought from the UK that quickly.
This may seem a little bit on the expensive side for those of us used to the £12/£13 beauty box subscriptions,  but think of it this way, each Loot Crate has a guaranteed value of $40+ (£23.99) and who can really put a price on nerdy goodness.
After my little blurb there, you’ll probably want to see want was in this months crate? Course you do! Here ya go……………………………..after the jump.

Drool…………….
So here we have the little magazine that comes in each crate. This months theme for the crate was ‘Warriors’ and the cover is all kinds of awesome.
The magazine contains a few stories and what not and then at the back had some pages dedicated to educating you about what you received in the box.
First item out of the box was this James Cho Alpha Battle T-shirt. A shirt full of characters ready for battle!
We spent the first few minutes going over all the characters and working out who they were.
When setting up your subscription, you choose what size t-shirt you would like and although there isn’t a t-shirt in every crate, they seem to climb in there quite frequently. Because I am sharing this subscription with Hubs, we decided it would be best to get the t-shirts in his size, so that if we both really like the t-shirt, it will fit both of us.
Black Tie Geek CatBug Bow Tie.
This is a Loot Crate Exclusive and there are 2 versions floating about in the nerdverse, Catbug (the best one) and Impossibear. I defy you to not fall in love with how cute this is.
Keep an eye out for Black Tie Geek, I suspect there will be a whole new level of awesomeness released upon us once they are up and running on the interwebs.
Close up of Catbug face.
GPS Cinch Bag
I absolutely guarantee you, that everyone has a drawstring bag somewhere in there house, but do you have a Gas Powered Stick Drawstring Bag? Perfect for carrying all the Loot.
Kidrobot Dunny Side Show
This is my absolute favourite item from the box. This Kidrobot Dunny Side Show figure is the cutest thing I have ever seen. hubs thinks he has claimed it for himself but not for long, it will be mine.
I can’t for the life of me find out if this little bundle of angry cuteness has a name, so if you know what it is please let me know. I thought I would give you a close up of him with his beads and spear on, just so you could aawwww one more time.
On the front of this card is a Heart made of Bacon and on the inside it reads ‘I love you more than Bacon’ to which i would add ‘said no one EVER!’
The card is simple and cute and Open Me have a wide selection available, sadly, it looks like they are on for US customers. Something else we received in the box was a subscription to Open Me for Ecards. This subscription is worth $20 a year and adds that something extra to the box.
Who doesn’t love comic books? If you know someone who doesn’t, they should be shot, with a tranquiliser of happy. I should point out that I do not condone the shooting of anyone with anything unless said shot is a drink based shot and that drink is a non alcoholic shot of awesome. Hmmm, I’m not sure that should be counted as a save.
Bonus of this is that it is redeemable through Comixology and that is my go to app for comic-ing (that’s a word).
Bravest Warriors sticker
I’m trying to think of where I can stick this. So far, I’m drawing a blank but it shall be stuck somewhere stick worthy.
You’ll notice that most of the items in the box were Bravest Warriors themed, Bravest Warriors is from the same people who brought us Adventure Time and Fairly Odd Parents- Frederator/Cartoon Hangover.
Loot Crate Warriors Collectible Pin Badge
I’m going to assume that a badge is included in every box or at least I hope they are.
So that was my first ever Loot Crate and if you couldn’t tell, I got a little bit over excited with it all. As far as I can tell, they haven’t been going for all that long and so by looking at how awesome this box is and how awesome previous boxes have been (gah I wish I had signed up for all previous boxes) imagine how awesome future boxes are going to be.
Click here if you are looking to sign up, this is my referral link so if you would rather not go through the referral link you can click here to go direct.
Had you heard of Loot Crate before? Know of any other Geeky subscription boxes? Let me know in the comments.
