Barry M Under the Sea 4 new shades Feb 2019

Barry M sent me over the 4 new, beautiful polishes for the Under the Sea range. I actually don’t have any of these polishes in my collection and I have no idea why! These 4 have made me want the whole range now.

First of all, who else is getting Little Mermaid vibes from the colours? That’s the first thing I thought of when I saw them.

The 4 colours, from left to right are Oyster Beach, Coral Reef, Sea Turtle and Dragonfish. All of them are beautiful, peralescent and sheer polishes with a gorgeous shimmer. Lets get in to the swatches, shall we?!

Oyster Beach

Oyster Beach is a baby pink with a strong blue shimmer, although it was tough for me to capture.

It took 3 coats for it to be this opaque and you can still see nail line, but they are meant to be sheer on their own or used as a topper.

Sea Turtle

Sea Turtle was another one that I found tough to capture as beautifully as it is in real life. It is a mint green with a stunning, purple shimmer.

Sea Turtle is also incredibly sheer, this was 3 coats and ignoring my index finger nail line as I had a cut under it, you can still visibly see the nail line on the rest of the nails. In fact, I would go as far as to say that I think this one is the sheerest of the bunch.

Coral Reef

Coral Reef is my absolute favourite of this release. It’s a beautiful, bright pink with an orange shift and a purple shimmer. It even looks red in some lighting.

It is absolutely stunning in all lights and I cannot get over how strong that shift is. This is a definite summer shade that will get a ton of use! It was completely opaque in 2 coats with no visible nail line.

Checkout that shimmer.

Dragonfish

Dragonfish is a gorgeous purple and has an eye catching, blue shimmer.

It was also completely opaque in 2 coats, with no visible nail line.

All swatches were without topcoat and that shows the glossy finish that these polishes dry to. They dry pretty quickly too, and aside from the shimmer, they are pretty easy to clean up.

I had also heard that people were having great results swatching them over black, so I gave it a go too. Oyster Beach pretty much stays the same but the blue shimmer is much more visible. Sea turtle completely changes to a shift lilac/blue and I love it! Coral Reef and Dragonfish pretty much just stay the same but Coral Reef’s orange shift is less visible.

I also tried them over white but all that happened was the colours were brighter versions of themselves and they just looked the same.

These beauties are currently available on BarryM.com for £3.99 each, and will be available in Superdrug stores from 28th February.

Which ones will you be grabbing?

:)x
