Born Pretty Store Holo #11

The sun has made an extra long appearance recently here in the UK. I have mentioned this before, but I’m really not that much of a fan of the summer, I hate being hot and not being able to cool down easily. The one thing that has made this slightly more bearable, is the Born Pretty Holo Polish I am going to show you.

I got the chance to have a Born Pretty Store Holo Polish in their recent giveaway. I was overjoyed when I got the email to say that I was going to be receiving one. I chose #11, which is a really nice plum purple Holo.

Holo’s have been one of those things I have admired from afar. I got GOSH Holographic Hero a while ago (see that here and here) and this made me want more, but because Holo’s are quite desirable, they have always been out of my price range. But not anymore. The Born Pretty Store Holo’s are only $5.59 which works out at about £3.74, and with their free shipping this is a proper bargain.

I’m not sure what I was expecting with the polish tbh, I did think that maybe, because they were so cheap, they wouldn’t have a very strong holo in them. Yeah, I was wrong, waaaay wrong.

I’ll stop blabbering and show you the abundance of photos. I ventured into the back garden to take these in direct sunlight to make sure you could see them really well.

This was the best photo I could get to show off the holo in different ‘angles’ on my nails. Click the jump to see more photos.

That would be my garden chair to the left, just in case you were wondering.
Isn’t it beautiful? The Holo, not the garden chair.

Close up showing the sparkles in the holo.

This photo is of the polish with a coat of Seche Vite on it. Previously, I have read online, several times, that a topcoat can dull the holo. This doesn’t seem to be true with this polish, what do you think?

This is a photo of the polish in the shade, as a standard polish (when it’s bleak and grey) it is still really pretty, although you can’t really see the purpleness of it here.

And here is a photo of it slightly half in/half out of the sun.
Yes, maybe more photos than what was needed to show you the holo, but I am super in love with this, so much so, I pinched a bit of Hubby’s Paypal money to buy another one, I’ve gone for #8 this time and cannot wait for it to turn up, hopefully the sun is still making an appearance for when it does.
I’ve almost finished this bottle, today wasn’t my first try of this polish, I have worn it several times and even on my toes. If I was a driver, it would be a danger to wear this, because I would be constantly oooohing and aaaahing over it every time the sun caught it.
The formula is really nice, it applied really smoothly and evenly, I did use 3 coats but that was my preference and 2 coats would be perfectly acceptable.
The dry time was pretty quick and even with the fan running in the background, I got no bubbling. It finishes smooth and shiny, unlike the GOSH Holographic Hero which finishes with a kind of Matt finish.
The first time I wore this, it lasted about 4 days without chipping, although this was with minimal use of my hands, I haven’t yet a good test with me doing the dishes and cleaning and stuff so I may try it with this run and update this post later to give a good idea of how long it will last.
If you have fallen in love with this as well, and are looking for a good holo but without the hefty price tag, you can see the whole range by clicking here. If you haven’t heard of or visited Born Pretty Store before, I highly recommend having a look around, they have loads of things on there for great prices and it is free shipping to anywhere in the world.
On a different note, my new pills seem to be doing a great job and are helping a lot. However, they have made my hand tremors quite a bit worse, so nail art might not be present for a little while longer, might just be decals and straight up polishes for a while, but I do have pages and pages of ideas so please stick around to see them when I can do them.
Hope you are enjoying the heatwave.
:)x
