Ok, we’re going to put this one down as a fail, mostly. I received this flakie gel from Born Pretty Store, and I had originally thought it was just loose flakies (because I didn’t read it properly) and I have never used gel from a pot before so I kind of panicked and had no idea what nail art I could do with it. Then I tested it on a swatch stick and not only did I realise that it wasn’t too difficult but it sparked an idea. It showed up mostly as shifty orange and obviously being October, my instant thought was pumpkins. Plus, I had just bought the awesome Uberchic Halloween 03 plate which had a cool pumpkin stamp on it.
And this is what I ended up with. The main problem is that you can barely see that they are pumpkins. If you had no idea what it is, you would just mumble niceties and move on. But I kind of actually like it. Maybe it’s because I know what i was going for and I can sort of see it and the flakies are still really pretty.
The gel was easy to use, spread well on the nail and had great flakie dispersal. I had it under the lamp for a 60 seconds then topped with a gel topcoat. Then I added a coat of Barry M Matte topcoat.
I can’t really comment on removal of it because I use a peel off base coat when I am using gel.
