Turtley Awesome: TMNT Nails

I’m still here, I haven’t disappeared again, just trying to get myself semi organised.
With the impending release of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie and the undoubtable disappointment it will bring (is it really that hard for Megan Fox to change her hair colour for one film? this is among other niggly bits), I decided that I wanted to do some retro (read ‘proper’) TMNT nails.
Then one of my most awesome purchases ever arrived, this set of 4 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles earrings, and it made me want to do the nails even more.
(If you have fallen in love with these earrings as much as I did, you can buy them here on eBay for $14.88 (about £8.72) with free postage.)
So I did my quick doodle of how I wanted them to look, roughly, and as you can see, the original idea had mouths, the finished mani does not. This is because I free handed the masks and ended up with very little space underneath, so mouths, consider yourself sacrificed.
On the note of free handing, I attempted over and over again to freehand the shell design for my thumb and I just couldn’t get it right, I must have started this nail over about 7 or 8 times before I gave up and decided that I was going to cheat. So, for this design, used Bundle Monster stamping plate BM-313 and it kind of, almost, pretty much works.
Polishes used: Barry M Spring Green, Barry M Gelly mango, Nails Inc St James St, Models Own Hypergel Blue Glint and Konad Black for the stamp.
Who is your favourite Turtle? I love Donatello which of course is an issue for my 8 year old ‘But Mum, Donatello has a rubbish weapon!’ ‘His staff may not be the best weapon, but he is smart and uses his brain, which is the greatest weapon of all’ Yeah, he still doesn’t like Donatello :(.
I hope you like these nails, watch out for another TMNT themed mani coming soon.

:)x
